The work that becomes next year’s capability.
Famous Labs is the internal R&D arm of the group. We run applied research, build internal tooling, and run experiments that compound into capabilities across the studio, the engineering team, and the venture portfolio.
Applied research,
not blue-sky thinking.
Labs exists to solve problems we keep encountering in the studio and on the engineering team. Every experiment starts with a real friction point — something that is slowing down a delivery, reducing quality, or that we think the market will need in eighteen months.
When an experiment graduates, it either becomes an internal system deployed across the group, a capability we offer to clients, or — occasionally — a venture we spin out with equity.
We do not publish papers or run academic programmes. Every piece of work has a deployment target.
Labs work is visible across the group. Experiments are shared in the open and feedback from the studio informs every iteration.
Most Labs work becomes internal capability, not external product. We build for ourselves first; the product question comes later.
Labs engineers and researchers are embedded in client and venture work. The friction they encounter is the brief.
Active & completed
Each experiment runs against a defined problem statement and a deployment target. Status is updated quarterly.
A systematic framework for building and evaluating RAG pipelines in production. Addresses the gap between 'it works in the demo' and 'it works on the 95th-percentile query'.
Automated propagation of design tokens from Figma through to code and brand documentation. Eliminates the translation layer between design decisions and implementation.
LLM-assisted tooling for auditing brand consistency across digital touchpoints at scale. Now deployed internally on client engagements and two portfolio companies.
Semantic search across the full Famous project archive — briefs, strategies, and outcomes. Surfaces relevant prior work and decisions during new engagement scoping.
Lightweight monitoring layer that sits above campaign and product analytics, surfacing anomalies before they compound. Now standard across all Famous growth engagements.
Prototype for AI-assisted creative review — comparing design outputs against brief, brand guidelines, and competitive reference automatically. Early-stage research.
Built for ourselves.
Deployed everywhere.
The systems that power the Famous group are built in Labs and operated across the studio, engineering, and venture portfolio. When they mature, some become client offerings. All are built to production standard from day one.
The internal project management and client delivery system. Built to match the Famous engagement model — not adapted from generic tooling.
Live · v3.2The group's internal measurement and attribution stack. A single source of truth for performance data across client engagements, portfolio companies, and owned media.
Live · v2.1A curated collection of fine-tuned and prompt-engineered models for studio work — brand voice generation, design brief summarisation, and strategic analysis.
Live · v1.4The internal component library and design system used across every Famous-built product. Also the foundation for client design systems.
Live · v5.0An internal intelligence feed aggregating market signals, competitor moves, and category developments across the sectors Famous operates in.

Selected clients and portfolio companies get early access to Labs capabilities before they reach the market. If you are working on a problem that might benefit from applied AI or engineering research, we want to hear about it.
